The Task: The task was to create a 1-2 minute teaser trailer based around my own fictional movie or TV series.
The Original Plan: The plan was to make a horror trailer with contrapuntal sound, that sound eventually being the song Three Little Birds by Bob Marley. I always had the idea to zoom out from the radio to slowly reveal the murder scene. The trailer is meant to be a horror trailer as well.
Research: So I reviewed 5 different horror trailers and talked about how well they used sound and whether the trailer is actually good. I analysed different types of cinematography, sound and editing for example Foley sound, contrapuntal and parallel sound and L-Cuts/J-Cuts. I research into Saul Bass and how his graphic design influenced film and looked into his techniques.
How useful was the research?: I found the research very useful especially learning about sound and learning more editing techniques, it really helped me develop a decent trailer.
How could I of improved my research?: I probably could improve by just generally doing a bit more for example analyzing more trailers. If I done that I might of had more of an insight into the horror genre trailer wise.

Who was my teaser trailer designed for?: My trailer was designed around ages 15+ as it includes violence and gore and obviously people who like horror.
How well received was my trailer following the screening?: My trailer had pretty much nothing but positive feedback there were a couple of negatives here and there like better lighting and stuff but overall it was received well.
What feedback did I receive and do I agree?: A lot of my feedback mentioned the set, saying that it was well done and that I clearly put a lot of effort into it, I was also complimented on the editing e.g. colour grading, reverb, arithmetic effects and I was complimented on the creativity of the trailer. However I was criticised on the lighting which I agree with and that some of the shots were a bit shoddy which I do also agree with.
What impact would these improvements have on the audience?: Re doing some shots might make the trailer look smoother so it's not as jarring for the audience and the lighting would make it look better for the audience as well.

What areas could I have improved on throughout the project?: I probably could've improve my final outcome if aI gav myself more time to do it rather than leaving it last minute and I would've found it easier if I wrote out a shot list a bit earlier as well .
What programs, tools and processes have I learned to use?: During this project I definitely progressed my editing skills by learning how to blur, colour grade, do L-cuts and J-cuts, use the arithmetic effect, keyframe and use the reverb effect.
What challenges did I have and how did I overcome them?: I had to learn pretty all the editing techniques myself which I just watched youtube about.
What skills do I think I need to develop further?: I need to develop my research skills more as i'm not very good at that and it's quite important.
